What is the independent and dependent variable for my project, also the control group?

i'm doing and project....... which type of soda has the biggest explosion when mentos are placed in in the soda, pepsi, coca cola, or club soda?

Independent Variable=

Dependent Variable=

Control Group=|||Independent will be the type of soda

Dependant will be the size of the explosion

Controlled will be the number of mentos you put in|||In your project, the independent variable is the type of soda that you put the Mentos into. The variable is considered to be independent because its values are not affected or "are independent of" the other variables in the study. The only way it is affected is by the person conducting the experiment, namely you.

The dependent variable is the magnitude of the explosion. This variable is dependent because its values should depend on or are affected by the changes in the independent variable.

In your particular project, I don't think there is a control group. The control group is normally the group that is not given the same treatment as the other groups. In your study, Mentos are added to all three of the different sodas. You do have controlled variables though, which in this case should be the number of Mentos added to each soda, the type of Mentos (fruit flavored or not) added to each soda, the amount of each type of soda, etc. They are controlled variables because they should be equal for each independent variable.

Hope that helps! =)|||independent variable - changing

dependent variable - measurement

control - stays the same

this is what im guessing..

control group - the type of mentos you use, the amount of each soda you use, if they're all the same temperature, the cup you use to keep each soda, the room temperature of each of them

independent variable - the different types of soda you use

dependent variable - maybe a measurement of how much soda is left in the cup after the explosion, or how high it's going to shoot, your going to have to figure out this part yourself.

%26amp;and you know you did me some good at the same time too, i have a test to study for on all thesse things|||The independent variable is the type of soda, the dependent variable is te size of explosion, and the control group is the number of Mentos placed in the soda.
